About us

2,546 predominantly German-Jewish men living in the UK at the start of WWII found themselves classified as ‘enemy aliens’ and were sent to Australia on the Dunera. Their story is surprisingly well documented. In Australia the Dunera Association is active, there is a Dunera museum at Hay, Monash University has a wealth of resources as does the National Museum, Australia among others. The Dunera Interest Group is a UK based body connecting descendants and anyone with an interest in the story of the Dunera. Get in touch to join our mailing list and hear of online and in-person events, especially those of interest to UK and European based Dunera descendants, individuals and organisations.
